David LaChapelle for Happy Socks

David LaChapelle for Happy Socks

David LaChapelle's photography always brings a smile to my face, and his recent ad campaign for Swedish brand Happy Socks is a breath of fresh fashion-air. In true David LaChapelle-style, these vibrant images are visually stunning and charged with a provocative sexual energy that you can't deny or resist. And from an ad perspective, who wouldn't want to pull on a pair of Happy Socks and prance around a shipping yard? Exactly.

Pet Shop Boys Get Electric in Toronto on September 25, 2013

Pet Shop Boys Live in Toronto on September 25, 2013

A few months ago, I attended the Pet Shop Boys concert during their stop in Toronto on their latest tour in support of their album Electric. I've seen the PSB a few times and I can honestly say that their shows just keep getting better and better. This time around, the show was definitely, Electric -- literally. The venue became a pumping and pulsating discotheque with Neil Tennant at the helm of the most electrifying stage show I had ever seen.

Banks of lasers flooded the auditorium and the audience became dazzled and entranced by the PSB's stage show, infectious beats, rhythms and vocals. Upbeat hit after hit mixed with singles from their new album kept the crowd on its toes and we euphorically danced the evening away. Highlights of the show included the visually stunning light show, the fabulous costumes and outfits the boys wore, the arty and theatrical performances of the backup dancers, and hearing B-sides and non-singles like I Get Excited (You Get Excited Too), I'm Not Scared, and Fugitive. The PSB never fail to impress, and I can't wait to see them perform live again! Check out my pics and video from the show below...

Pharrell Williams' New Moncler Eyewear Collection

    Pharrell Williams for Moncler Eyewear
    Pharrell Williams for Moncler Eyewear

Pharrell Williams has collaborated with French luxury label Moncler to create this stunning trio of sunglasses for fall 2013. I can see influences from Rick Owens and Margiela in the visor-esque pair (above), and the pair with the leather side-blockers (below) remind me of shades that walked down the Thom Browne runway a few years ago. Regardless, I still love this collection and believe any of these sunglasses would instantly make any look fashion forward. Look for these sunglasses to be released on September 26th, coinciding with the grand opening of Moncler's flagship store in Paris.

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Collection Preview

3.1 Phillip Lim for Target Toronto Preview

Earlier this month, I attended an exclusive preview for the upcoming 3.1 Phillip Lim for Target designer collaboration (see the entire lookbook). Select Toronto fashionistas, fashionistos and taste makers gathered to get a firsthand look at the highly anticipated collection. The affordable collection (prices range from $19.99 - $299.99) reflects Phillip Lim's modern design sensibility and includes beautifully tailored men's and women's pieces that easily translate from day to evening wear. And, this collection also features hip footwear and stunning bags for both men and women. References to some of Phillip Lim's most iconic designs can be seen in the graphic BOOM! print for ladies and the pattern and textile mixing of the camoflauge-sleeved shirt for men. My favourite items from this collection are all of the bags, and I'm positive they will be the first items to sell out. I love this entire collection and it's definitely one worth lining up for -- I can't wait to shop it on September 15th!

Rad Hourani's Architectural Fall/Winter 2013 Haute Couture Collection

Rad Hourani Fall/Winter 2013 Haute Couture Collection

Rad Hourani is definitely one of the most visionary designers of the moment. His design aesthetic may be interpreted as a combination of vintage Helmut Lang, Raf Simons and Jil Sander, with a touch of Rick Owens. He is clearly in a league of his own, and his F/W 2013 haute couture collection speaks volumes about his ability to construct luxurious, fashion-forward garments. I love all of the beautiful tailoring found throughout this collection and these gorgeous structural elements give shape to silhouettes that are interesting but still refined and modern. His play with proportion is strategic and clever, and other designers should take notes on how to manipulate colour and textiles to achieve visual interest. I could rock every look from this collection!

The Magnum ultimate pleasure is a vanilla bean ice cream bar customized to your exquisite taste. Visitors begin their Pleasure Store experience by choosing from a vast selection of sweet and savoury toppings such as chocolate flakes, ground hazelnuts, bacon bits, goji berries and more. Then, servers add each of your favourite toppings to a mini cocktail shaker, shake up the flavours and dress your custom treat.

I felt like indulging my sweet tooth and selected a mixture of chocolate flakes, dried coconut, ground hazelnuts and crunchy toffee bits, with a pinch of rock sea salt to truly highlight the sweetness of the ice cream (see below). I loved the signature ice cream bar I created, but to be honest, I don't think it's possible to create one that isn't delicious. Silky vanilla bean ice cream, rich Belgian chocolate and a selection of delicious toppings -- this is what ultimate pleasure is all about!
