As a teenager growing up in Edmonton, New Order's music was one of my favourite escapes; it was in their music that I often found solace and salvation from the bullies and persecutors that made my life a living hell on a day-to-day basis. Back in the day, there wasn't anything remotely like the It Gets Better project, so I turned to New Order's music to make everything better and to inspire me to persevere for another day. Whether it was the uplifting, melodic synth sounds of hits like Bizarre Love Triangle and The Perfect Kiss or the lyrical genius on tracks like 1963 and Round and Round; I always had a friend to turn to when the going wasn't so great. It had always been a dream of mine to see New Order live in concert and twenty-five years later, that dream came true. New Order concluded their North American tour here in Toronto on October 24, 2012 and I was fortunate enough to attend this amazing final performance!

Original New Order members including the following: Bernard Sumner, Gillian Gilbert and Stephen Morris played to a sold out crowd at Toronto's Sony Centre for the Performing Arts (apparently these three members all have beef with the fourth member, Peter Hook, so that's why he wasn't included in this tour). The set list (see below) spanned a range of Joy Division titles such as, Isolation and Love Will Tear Us Apart, to more recent New Order hits like, Here to Stay and Waiting for the Siren's Call. However, I was elated and delighted to hear classics like True Faith, Bizarre Love Triangle  and Blue Monday. Bernard Sumner's vocals were flawless and the band's electric energy had the venue bumping and jumping to hit after hit all night. I waited a long time to see New Order live and I can honestly say, the wait was well worth it!
