Photos: Ugg Australia Fall/Winter 2010 Preview

My latest piece for slice.ca (follow the link to see more pics!)...

Earlier this month, I attended a preview event for Ugg Australia's Fall/Winter 2010 footwear collection. You may be familiar with the traditional fuzzy sheep skin boots that were made famous by celebrities like Kate Moss, Sienna Miller and Pamela Anderson. Uggs are a key piece of the boho-chic look and these stylishly comfortable boots effortlessly make bold fashion statements.

Jeanne Beker (of Fashion Television fame) was the MC for the night and the event was packed with fashionistas, media darlings and local celebrities. The crowd of Ugg enthusiasts oozed FABULOSITY and I delightfully spied Canadian music recording artists Pastel Supernova of Fritz Helder and the Phantoms and Ivana Santilli.

The highlight of the evening was a runway show comprised of mens, womens and kids boots, desert boots, winter boots, boat shoes, sneakers, flip flops, clogs, wedge platforms, slippers, flats and winter accessories. I didnt know what to expect, but I was impressed by the multitude of footwear styles, textiles, colours and patterns that this collection offered. Some pieces were definitely more versatile for day-to-day wear and other pieces were absolute show stoppers (like the dramatic Sheepskin Cuff Boots with the fluffy fringe)!

My favourite pieces were definitely the classic looks which included: the Leona wedge boot for women, the Ascot slipper for men and the camouflage Erin boot for kids (so cute!). I can easily envision these Uggs dressed up or down and worn day to evening. Ugg Australia has definitely pushed the design envelope for Fall/Winter 2010 without compromising the style and quality that they are renowned for.

Remember Now by Karl Lagerfeld

Remember Now is a short film directed by Karl Lagerfeld and it features pieces from Chanel's 2010 cruise collection. Visually stunning and oh... so... Chanel, or should I say Lagerfeld? Regardless, this is definitely a peek into a world that most of us can only fantasize and dream about. It's hard not to fall in love with the fabulous visuals of beautiful people wearing beautiful clothes set against a visually stunning St. Tropez backdrop.

It's such a clever marketing strategy and it definitely speaks on more levels than a print ad ever could. It will be interesting to see which other major fashion houses follow in Karl's footsteps and create extended commercials under the guise of short films...

Video: Court Yard Hounds Interview Pt. 2

My latest piece for slice.ca...

Welcome back, and thanks to everyone that took the time to watch the first part of my interview with the Court Yard Hounds!

Emily and Martie were so much fun to interview and my favourite moment was definitely getting their reactions to the question regarding a hoe-down music battle between the Dixie Chicks vs. the Court Yard Hounds - hilarious! Check out the second part below to see their reactions and more.

Video: Court Yard Hounds Interview Pt.1

My latest post for slice.ca...
Last week, I met up with Emily Robison and Martie Maguire of the Dixie Chicks to chat about their new country music side project, the Court Yard Hounds. Don't worry, the Chicks haven't disbanded, they're just on hiatus and we can expect new material from them soon. But in the meantime, Emily and Martie have joined together as the Court Yard Hounds to pursue another chapter in their music careers and to get back to their bluegrass roots.

The two sisters were everything and more than I expected them to be and when I told them that I had a bunch of questions for them from you, they were eager and excited to answer them! Without any further ado, check out the first half of my interview below (look out for part 2 tomorrow!) to see what they had to say - enjoy!
