Rick Owens DRKSHDW Fall 2010

This is a glimpse at some of the pieces from Rick Owens' Fall 2010 DRKSHDW collection and he truly never disappoints -I'm LOVING everything!

The cuts and tailoring of each item is innovative, cutting edge and completely fashion forward. The proportions and lengths of the shirts are exaggerated and beautiful, the shapes that have been incorporated into the design of each piece function to give shape to a signature Rick Owens silhouette and overall aesthetic, and all of the details are impeccable and well executed. My favourite items are the glove-mittens, the drop crotch pants, the pointed hoodie and the long sleeve exaggerated shirt.

Rick Owens is definitely one of the most visionary designers of our time and he keeps pushing the design envelope with each collection!

Y-3 + The Last Magazine = The Third Wave

I'm LOVING this video titled the Third Wave which features New York City Ballet principal dancer and choreographer Benjamin Millepied and a bunch of other dancers dancing in Y-3 attire. The graphic look and feel of this video really highlights these beautiful sportswear pieces and it's totally fashion porn - I'm addicted and I've watched it over and over again!

Artistic fashion videos set to music are definitely the way to take fashion advertising to the next level and I hope this concept catches on and we get to see more fashion houses collaborate with artists and performers to create stimulating and beautiful short films.

This video was made for and other contributors include: Director Magnus Berger, Co-director Jacob Sutton, Producer Tenzin Wild, Choreographer Benjamin Millepied, music by Patrik Berger, and Styling by Alastair McKimm.

Sonia Rykiel for H&M

My latest piece for

Just in time for spring, Sonia Rykiel and H&M have teamed up to bring us a gorgeous and colourful knitwear collection that will help give your spring look a Parisian touch of je ne sais quoi. This diffusion collection is all about bold colours and sparkle and I'm loving every piece in this collection. Each piece is flirty, fun, sexy and ultra chic and can easily be mixed and matched with existing pieces in any wardrobe.

Dresses, jumpsuits, leggings, jumpers, tank tops, cardigans, jackets, shorts, skirts, sweaters, berets, bracelets, wedge heels, a tote, and a knit mini purse are some of the items that can be found in this collection. The primary colour scheme consists of pale pink, black, fuchsia and yellow with splashes of rhinestones for a bit of pizzazz and dazzle. The tailoring is simple, yet so effective, and the resulting shapes and silhouettes will flatter any wearer.

The stand out pieces for me from this collection are definitely all of the colourful striped pieces and the oversized jumpsuit. Sonia Rykiel clearly understands colour, volume and shape and it's refreshing to see a cohesive collection that effortlessly exudes style and fun. I definitely think that it's been a while since H&M has had an interesting designer collaboration and this collection has been well worth the wait! Check out the video below for more about Sonia Rykiel for H&M (follow the link above to see a gallery of this collection's lookbook).

Mr. Brainwash Exhibition: NYC

If you're heading to NYC anytime soon, pop artist Mr. Brainwash is holding an exhibition of his work in NYC until March 31st. You may recognize his artwork from Madonna's Celebration cd cover and he's incorporated this iconic imagery of her madgesty into the piece above which is currently being used to promote his show. I'm LOVING the NYC/graffiti street feel that this image conveys!

I was in NYC last year and I stumbled upon an enormous Mr. Brainwash piece (see below) on a side street in the meat packing district and I instantly fell in love with his artistic vision and aesthetic. Visionary, innovative, thought provoking and pop art at its best - Mr Brainwash's work is completely refreshing and definitely something to look out for!

My New Teapot...

I don't normally write about my houseware finds, but I can't resist not sharing my new treasure with you! This is my new teapot that I found today at Home Sense for an amazing $6.99 (CAD). I love the minimal and modern design of this teapot and I like that it slightly looks like a ceramic watering can. Kitchenware doesn't have to be plain and boring, just keep your mind and eyes open and you'll find unique, beautiful and interesting pieces!

Comme Des Garcons for Speedo

This is the new swimwear collaboration from Comme des Garcons (CDG) and Speedo, and it features CDG's signature PLAY graphic of the heart with the eyes. I'm fascinated by how effective the heart and eyes graphic has functioned to identify and brand the PLAY Comme des Garcons line. This heart graphic is quickly becoming the new Milo of Bathing Ape - everyone's gonna want to rock it! I'm feeling these pieces and loving the simplicity.
