Meeting Adam Lambert

My latest piece for slice.ca...

Earlier this week, as you may have heard via the slice.ca facebook group and twitter updates, I had the opportunity to sit down with Adam Lambert and to ask him your fan questions that you tweeted and sent in to us.

Adam Lambert was everything and more than I expected him to be and being in his presence, you couldn't stop yourself from feeling the fabulosity, glamour, and rock star power that was radiating throughout the room. He was extremely genuine, sincere and down-to-earth, but most importantly, his passion for his work and especially for his fans was what impacted me the most. When I told Adam that all of my questions were from you, his face lit up and he eagerly and excitedly answered each of your questions!

I want to thank everyone who sent us a question for Adam because every question was amazing(!), but unfortunately due to time restrictions I didn't get a chance to ask him everything :-(. Check out the first part of my interview with Adam below and check back tomorrow for the second part - enjoy!

Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer '10 Ad Campaign

This is a peek at the Alexander McQueen Spring/Summer '10 ad campaign starring Raquel Zimmermann and shot by Nick Knight. I'm LOVING this shot and this imagery totally makes you look twice at the ad and it forces you to study the genius behind this campaign. Raquel is covered in over 30 snakes, but the stars of this campaign are definitely the infamous armadillo stilettos (you may recall Gaga wore them in her Bad Romance video). STUNNING and GORGEOUS!!!

Raf Simons' Astronaut Sneaker

This is a new Spring '10 footwear offering from Raf Simons called the Astronaut Sneaker. I usually LOVE anything and everything Raf Simons, but I'm not sure if I'm loving the execution of the little zippered pocket on the back of these high tops. However, I do love the concept and aesthetic of this shoe.

Ke$ha Live in Toronto 01/17/2010

My latest piece for slice.ca....

Just the other night, I checked out an artist showcase featuring Sony Music’s latest hit recording artist, Ke$ha. You may have heard her on Flo Rida’s single Right Round or chances are you’ve recently been infected (or will be infected) by her hit single Tik Tok’s contagious lyrics and catchy hook (oh-wee-oh-oh-ohhh!). Ke$ha’s debut album premiered at number one on the Billboard charts and her poptastic sound is sure to keep her at the top of the charts.

The vivacious 22 year old singer/songwriter emphatically showed the Toronto audience how to party like animals as she made her way through a rocking six song set. Cute, fun and completely entertaining, Ke$ha WOW-ed the room with her quirky personality, funky dance moves and addictive songs. All of the screaming fans sang along to each song and they fed off of her amazing energy as much as she fed off of theirs – the sign of a truly engaging performer. Guests at this show also had the opportunity to get Ke$ha’s signature glittery smoky eye makeup applied by event make-up artists and to have their photos taken on a red carpet to be posted later on her official website.

It was definitely an event that had something for everyone in attendance and I especially loved that the event organizers went the extra mile to ensure that all of the fans had a great time. All in all, Ke$ha’s performance revealed her charming persona, amazing talent and it gave us a peek at what’s in store from this rising pop star. Check out my videos from Ke$ha’s showcase below – enjoy!

Lady Gaga & Polaroid Sneak Peek

This is a sneak peek at the Lady Gaga + Polaroid collaboration that I wrote about recently. I'm totally feeling the creative genius behind this Gaga Polaroid composite and I definitely believe that this is only the beginning of great things to come from her Gaganess and the visual art medium in general. What a great way to inspire, revolutionize, and challenge thought. LOVE it!

Y-3 Luggage S/S '10

As you may know, I'm a huge fan of Yohji Yamamoto and Y-3 and I'm LOVING this luggage collection that's set to be released for Spring/Summer 2010. Chic, sleek, sexy, minimal, beautiful, modern, quali-tay, luxurious, I could go on and on... I don't think you could go wrong with any of these pieces and all of them would instantly add style to any traveler's vacation!

Madonna for Dolce & Gabbana Spring 2010

This is a peek at the new Spring 2010 ad campaign for Dolce & Gabbana featuring Madonna, shot by Steven Klein. The first image is from the campaign and the other shots are part of a spread that will be featured in the next edition of Italian Vanity Fair.

The inspiration for these shots is Italian Neorealism cinema with Madonna playing a domestic character. I'm not sure if real people would be wearing Dolce & Gabanna to do house chores, but then I guess we're all not as fabulous as Madonna in this ad campaign. Steven Klein definitely delivers the goods and Madonna looks stunning...

Kate Moss for Just Cavalli S/S '10

Kate Moss stars in the new Just Cavalli Spring/Summer 2010 ad campaign and she is definitely still a supermodel force to be reckoned with. I'm not a fan of Cavalli at all, but Kate totally sells this garment and completely makes this ad campaign interesting. Good for Cavalli for choosing Kate to be in this new campaign.

Lady Gaga - Creative Director of Polaroid

Lady Gaga announced her new partnership with Polaroid (see video above starting at the 1:20 mark) at this year's Consumer Electronic Show in Las Vegas. The Haus of Gaga will work on innovative Polaroid imaging products that will merge fashion, photography, technology and imaging.

I applaud Polaroid for trying this new and fresh approach to reviving their iconic imaging products. Lady Gaga is the perfect individual to help revitalize the Polaroid brand and she'll definitely take it to new heights with her limitless creativity and vision. Polaroid's instant cameras and films are such great creative tools and I can't wait to see what Gaga and her Haus come up with!

It will be interesting to see how well this partnership performs and to see what other companies and brands follow in this collaboration's footsteps...

***Update***
Gaga's interview with CNBC about the Polaroid partnership - check it below (sorry, I couldn't figure out the embed code so it broke the layout of this post)!

Karl Lagerfeld for Dior

These are some of the images from the Dior Homme Spring '10 ad campaign shot by the kaiser himself, Karl Lagerfeld. Simple, elegant, and oh so stylish - I'm feeling these shots. What I love the most about these images is that the model, Juan Manuel Arancibia, has been instructed not to look into the camera so that the viewer isn't engaged by the model and we are forced to look at and articulate the beautiful Dior pieces. It will be interesting to see if this is the new direction for fashion photography in 2010...
