Emma Watson for Burberry

My latest piece for slice.ca....

I have been obsessed with the look and styling of the Fall/Winter '09 Burberry ad campaign featuring Emma Watson. The Harry Potter starlet effortlessly brings elegance and class to this ad campaign and she is a perfect fit for this iconic British brand. She has grown up right before our eyes and fashion and style is definitely an important factor to the success of any young actress. Landing the Burberry ad campaign helps to boost Emma's notoriety as a celebrity and fashionista.

Emma described her Burberry modeling experience as, "The biggest ego boost of my life" and Burberry's creative director, Christopher Bailey, states that Emma is, "One of the great British new icons." Famed fashion photographer Mario Testino shot these images (see below) in the Westminster district of London and the city backdrop works to accentuate the stark silhouettes and colors of this collection. Check out the video below for a look behind the scenes of this ad campaign.

My favourite look from this campaign is the one where Emma's scarf is tied in an exaggerated manner and worn with the classic trench as it is interesting, stylish and completely functional. Being creative with accessories is a great way to add some interest to any outfit and although we may not be living in London, we definitely experience similar fall weather. A trench coat and a warm scarf are key pieces in any Canadian wardrobe and this exaggerated scarf/trench look is simple to achieve. There is no doubt that Emma and this ad campaign will inspire many exaggerated scarf/trench looks this fall season!
