Givenchy Fall/Winter '09 - Mens Footwear/Accessories

This is a look at the footwear and accessories from Givenchy for Fall/Winter '09. Givenchy has really stepped up their game recently and we can thank them for the Spring/Summer '09 trend of lycra leggings worn under casual or dress shorts. I love Givenchy's footwear and accessories vision for Fall/winter '09 because Givenchy has finally arrived at the level of innovation and avant garde aesthetics that has only previously been seen from a handful of designers like the Antwerp Six (Martin Margiela, Ann Demeulemeester, Walter Van Beirendonck, Dries van Noten, Dirk Van Saene, and Dirk Bikkembergs), Raf Simons, Helmut Lang, and Jil Sander.

The bags are beautiful and luxurious, but still very masculine. The shoes and boots with the banding detail are interesting and will probably translate better in reality. I totally want the black boots and the large shiny shoulder bag...

Yohji Yamamoto: Y's Fall/Winter 2009 Preview

This is a sneak peek at Yohji Yamamoto's Y's Fall/Winter 2009 collection. Y's is casual sportswear that is effortlessley chic and always fashion forward. The all black look above is signature Yohji and the other two looks are perfect examples of how Yohji is able to imbue the most casual look with his unique aesthetic. I'm not normally a fan of clothing that looks like pajama bottoms, but the clever design behind these pieces paired with the striped and colorful plaid textiles is genius! Although the extreme drop-crotched pants aren't for everyone, I can't help but appreciate the avante garde aesthetic that these trousers are helping to define this time around. MC Hammer made drop-crotch pants famous in the '80s and twenty years later Yohji Yamamoto has shown us how an item may be refined and reinterpreted in order to progress a look or piece so that it is fashionably relevant to today's world.

Takashi Murakami for Louis Vuitton - Superflat First Love

Takashi Murakami has collaborated with Louis Vuitton to create a collection of small leather goods and wallets in a new Multicolor Spring Pallette. The collection will feature a variety of brightly pop colored linings. To kick off the launch of this collection, Murakami has created this video entitled Superflat First Love. I love Takashi Murakami's work and especially his collaborations with Louis Vuitton because he has the ability to turn everyday accessories into functional pieces of art. The collection will be available starting April 28, 2009. Check out a preview of the collection below...

Jeremy Scott for Adidas Fall/Winter '09

Jeremy Scott has collaborated with Adidas again for Fall/Winter '09. These sneakers are innovative and clever and I love the high tops with the double tongues and the exaggerated tongues. The winged high tops are back in silver and black in case you missed the gold and white versions from this season. I can't wait to see all of the clothing pieces from this highly anticipated collection!
