Y-3 Fall/Winter 2009

For Y-3 Fall/Winter '09 (see the complete collection here), Yohji Yamamoto showed a slouchy military inspired collection. I am usually a huge fan of anything Y-3, but this collection just didn't "WOW" me. All of the jackets in this collection are beautifully constructed and luxurious, but nothing exciting as they are merely variations of coats from previous collections. The pants and tops in this collection are functional and definitely Y-3, but again variations of previous designs seen in other seasons. My favorite pieces (see above) are the black cap with side-ear flaps, the long trench coat style pieces, and the denim. Perhaps the global economic recession played a factor in this collection because every piece of this collection is safe and completely wearable...
