"It's Janet, Ms. Jackson if you're Nasty!"

My latest piece for

Janet Jackson is a true fashion and style icon and she always pushes the creative envelope in her live concert performances. I attended her most recent Rock Witchu tour last night in Toronto and needless to say I was excited to see what Janet had to offer this time around..... (read more)

Steven Klein Shoots Linda Evangelista for W Magazine

Steven Klein has shot Linda Evangelista for the October issue of W magazine. The shoot, titled Love/Hate, features Linda as a dominatrix character dominating male model Tyson Ballous. These images are provocative, stunning, high fashion, and flawlessly beautiful pieces of art. Steven Klein never fails to deliver an impeccable photo spread and his creative visual aesthetic definitely continues to raise the fashion photography standards bar.

This has definitely been the year of the resurgence of the 90's supermodels which include: Claudia Schiffer and Christy Turlington for Chanel, Kate Moss and Naomi Campbell for YSL, and Linda Evangelista for Miu Miu. I am partial to the supermodels of the 90's as they defined and took fashion to a completely new level of glamour, style, and fabulosity. These women revolutionized the modeling industry by imbuing models with a level of celebrity status that surpassed most traditional celebrities and by drastically re-defining modeling industry day rates. The infamous quote from Linda, "I don't get out of bed for less than $10,000" is clearly justified and warranted by this photo spread as Linda is still clearly a supermodel force to be reckoned with. I wonder which other 90's supermodels will follow this cue and make comebacks....

Italian National Rugby Team For D&G Underwear

Dolce and Gabbana have followed in the footsteps of Roberto Cavalli by featuring the Italian National Rugby team in their most recent D&G underwear ad campaign. The use of professional athletes as fashion models has been quite popular this past year and it is definitely another market that may normally get overlooked by regular underwear advertising. The hyper-masculinity associated with rugby players speaks to a segment of consumers that may not normally have considered spending extra ca$h on luxury underwear. At the same time, the hyper-masculinity associated with the athletes is now associated with the underwear and therefore, buying D&G underwear allows the consumer to also buy into the athletic masculine mystique. Clever.

Y-3 Spring 2009

These are my favorite looks from the Y-3 Spring 2009 collection. Black, blue, and orange were used extensively throughout this collection and there were definitely some interesting pieces such as: the see through jackets, pants with exaggerated pockets, reinterpreted hats and caps, and samurai-shorts. The collection is very typical Y-3 and Yohji Yamamoto safely incorporated a few innovative pieces into this collection. See the entire collection at

My Most Recent Purchase

I fell in LOVE with these high tops the moment I laid my eyes upon them. The quality of the construction and materials used is impeccable and they are super comfy to walk in.....

Y-3 Water Bottles

The Yohji Yamamoto and Adidas collaboration, that is better known as Y-3, has expanded its reach and empire even further with these new Sigg water bottles. Nalgene chemical leaking water bottles are OUT and Sigg water bottles are IN. I LOVE the cartoon caricature of Yohji Yamamoto that graces the bottle. Yohji Yamamoto is always ahead of the game and it will be interesting to see which other high fashion houses will follow with their own branded water bottles.

Paris, Not France - Review

I attended the Toronto premiere of the documentary about Paris Hilton titled Paris, Not France and I wrote this review for the Cineplex blog.

Paris Hilton and Benji Madden were in attendance and sat 2 rows behind me. Paris was even more stunning and gorgeous in person (blurry pic above).

Banksy Does New Orleans

Banksy has crossed the pond and has commemorated the anniversary of hurricane Katrina by leaving his mark in New Orleans. In true Banksy style, these pieces are compelling, political, and thought provoking. Classic Americana archetypes juxtaposed against total American devastation. Clever socio-political commentary on this state of the American nation.

Back :-)

I was away on vacation with no internet access and I apologize for the lack of warning and lack of posts over the past 10 days...... but I'm back now :-)
