N*E*R*D G-Shock

Urban wear has definitely been stepped up a notch by Hip Hop/Rap artists that expand their empires through branding. Previously, urban wear was understood to be the clothes that urban artists wore - such labels as Tommy Hilfiger, Ecko, Phat Farm, Baby Phat, etc. Today, urban wear is more authentic when actual urban musical artists design and create their own lines. Pharrell Williams (one half of N*E*R*D) has two urban clothing lines Billionaire Boys Club and Ice Cream and both of these lines are fresh and innovative. Recently, Pharrell customized a BAPE G-Shock and I am loving the concept behind his blinged out G-Shock. It is in line with the Billionaire Boys club brand and it is beyond ghetto fabulous. Branding is the vehicle to any empire and it will be interesting to see how far Pharrell Williams' empire will expand.
