Karl Lagerfeld For The House of SAFETY


Karl Lagerfeld is featured in the new French safety awareness campaign sporting a fluorescent green/yellow vest in order to bring awareness to a new law, commencing in France on July 1, which requires all drivers and cyclists to wear this vest and a reflective triangle.

The translation of the copy reads, "It's yellow, it's ugly, it doesn't match anything, but it can save your life". This is an ingenious ad and I am delighted to see that Karl Lagerfeld is using his stature and influence for such a positive and important cause. If the kaiser of fashion can sacrifice chic for safety - then surely the fashion conscious French can too.

I would love to see Karl Lagerfeld reinvent and re-design this vest for the French people. How FABULOUS would a Chanel or Fendi safety vest be? I have no doubt in my mind that if Karl Lagerfeld were to design a men's and a women's safety vest, the French would be all over it! If there is any designer that could successfully design and stylize safety vests - it would be Karl Lagerfeld.

Yay to Karl Lagerfeld for the house of SAFETY!!!
